The research findings of Dr. Chun-Hao Lin from our research team have been published in the international journal Clinical Lymphoma, Myeloma & Leukemia. The paper, titled "Thrombocytosis Phenotype in Prefibrotic Primary Myelofibrosis: Risk Stratification and Prognostic Significance," was published in the April 2026 issue, Volume 26, Issue 7 (e926–e934).
This study retrospectively analyzed 350 patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms diagnosed at Taipei Veterans General Hospital between 2002 and 2023 to investigate the impact of thrombocytosis on the prognosis of prefibrotic primary myelofibrosis (pre-PMF). The results indicate that pre-PMF patients with concurrent thrombocytosis face a higher risk of mortality (HR 7.80). Furthermore, within the pre-PMF population, constitutional symptoms, leukocytosis, and thrombocytosis are all prognostic factors associated with poorer survival. This study supports the use of platelet counts as a practical risk stratification indicator for pre-PMF and highlights the clinical significance of accurately distinguishing between pre-PMF, essential thrombocythemia, and overt primary myelofibrosis.
Dr. Chun-Hao Lin continues to dedicate himself to research alongside his clinical duties, demonstrating solid research capabilities and academic potential. We extend our sincere congratulations and express our gratitude to the research team members for their collaborative efforts. We look forward to Dr. Lin’s continued excellence in both clinical and academic fields, as he accumulates more research achievements with clinical value and impact.
